A Jubilant June

Praise the Lord First Baptist Church, we truly had a magnificent May. Our Senior Adult Day was a blessing, Mothers Day was very special and our high attendance Sunday went beyond expectation with 121 in service & 80 in Sunday school. To God be the glory! Now let me tell you about our Jubilant June campaign. It starts June the 8th with a South African Mission Emphasis Day. Terry Wilkerson will be speaking Sunday morning to challenge us from the Word and tell us about his upcoming South African mission trip, and that Sunday evening Teresa VanHook will be speaking to tell us about her recent 6 week mission trip from South Africa. I encourage you to faithfully attend both services and prepare to be ministered to in a powerful way as we hear about how the Lord is bringing hope, renewal and revival half way around the world. The following Sunday (15th) is Father's Day, and I plan to preach a message of strength and encouragement to all dads on this very special day. Also, June the 22nd will begin our new expositional study through the book of Ephesians. In this series we'll understand just how the church is supposed to be the body of Christ in a world of discontent, pain and sorrow. We'll study God's calling, God's promises, the fullness and the power of the Holy Spirit in the church, in our families and in our prayer life. Church, I believe if I've ever preached a more practical sermon series that will empower this church, I believe it will be this one. Don't miss out on God's message for you and God's mandate for our church. He's making us into a "Comeback Church" and now is the time to get in on the ground floor of a great work at First Baptist. Remember to pray for our outreach teams. It's been exciting to see some fruit from these efforts. Also remember to lift our fellow church members up in prayer especially within our June emphasis prayer walks, and remember God is in control, He's on the throne & hell will never prevail against us with the Lord in charge.

May the Lord bless you,
Pastor Barry

A MAGNIFICENT MAY

The month of May here at the FBC is truly going to be great. We kick things off with our Senior Adult Sunday on the 4th. It’s going to be a special day filled with tremendous testimony, special music, a message about Caleb, and a fantastic meal afterwards that all are invited to.

Then on May the 11th will be our Mothers Day celebration. This will be a day of thanking the Lord for the precious gift of our mothers. Come and hear a special Mom’s Day message and prepare to be blessed on this special day.

Finally on the 18th we calling this our “Great Day in May.” On this will be our attendance goal of 75 in Sunday School & 110 in worship. The entire church will be paired off into two teams—Team Blue led by Randy Parten and Team Red led by Betty Vowell. The team with the most visitors that day wins and will be served by the losing team that evening with a celebration finger food fellowship. If the church reaches our goals of 75 in S.S. and 110 in worship, then Kay Parten will have the pleasure of smearing a pie in my face which will be taped and played on the next week’s broadcast. The individual with the highest number of visitors present will receive a $50 gift certificate to Cracker Barrel. The children participating in G-FORCE this year will be recognized on this day as well. This will be an exciting day in our church...So get ready to help our church reach its goals and your team to pull out a victory.

Remember that we are doing this all for the glory of God. Let our attitude be that of Solomon’s when he prayed to the Lord, “...I have built the temple for the name of the Lord God..” Together my friends we will continue to build a comeback church so that His name, His presence and His glory will be established in our community forever. May the Lord bless you as you work for Him. Pastor Barry
